Torso trend

After the new season runway shows the neck has been announced the "new area of obsession". However I think designers are focusing on the torso as a whole highlighting the neck, head and shoulders in particular.

Chanel paired outfits with what can only be described as a modern take on a halo, surrounding the face like a pictureframe. Karl Lagerfield also empahsized the shoulders with padding, fur, beading and all sorts of different sleeves. Armani Prive also used the top half of the body as the centre of attention emphasizing the neck with bows, fur, roll necks, silk scarves and sculpted necklines. Elie Saab took the focus to the whole torso with big bows, flowers and subtle sheer fabrics for example on the beautiful sea blue dress with scalloped beading. Alessandra Facchinetti for Valentino showed us multiple beautiful styles of skirt but also hinted at the neck with chunky necklaces and ruffles on her first couture runway. She took the torso trend trend to the extreme with wine bottle shaped tops with slits for the arms. Heads up everyone!
